Game 19

Oldsmar Christian got off to a fast first half start against the Irish of Huntington Prep and were up by as much as 14 points in the first half. Guard Curtis Jones of Huntington Prep got going late in the first half with 11 points to help give the Irish a one point halftime lead. The second half got off to a faster start for both teams as they continued to exchange blows throughout the second half with many dunk exchanges between the two. The half was filled with highlight after highlight. Oldsmar tried to run some time off with 2 minutes to go and a 2 point lead but turned the ball over with 48 seconds to go. Miles Bridges then hit a 3 point basket with 29 seconds to go to give the Irish a 55-54 lead. Then on the next Oldsmar possession there was a controversial call as Dontay Bassett caught a two handed dunk on a missed shot to take the lead but was called for an over the back call on the play. With 8.6 seconds on the clock the Eagles fouled Jonothan Kabongo who missed the front end of the one and one and the ball was rebounded by Oldsmar Christian. After a timeout, Oldsmar Christian inbound the ball up the floor into the hands of Troy Baxter who made a shot fake and then a shot for three that was good and the game was sent to overtime. In overtime, Oldsmar went up by as much 5 points, but Miles Bridges again put the Irish on his back and helped pull the Irish within 3 points with 48 seconds on a huge slam dunk. Oldsmar then turned the ball over and Luka Petrovic scored a two point  basket to bring the Irish within one point. After another turnover, Huntington Prep found themselves with the ball again for a chance to win and after a Dontay Bassett block of Miles Turner, the Irsh inbound the ball into the hands of Curtis Jones and he produced the game winner with less than 1 second for a final score of 65-64. Huntington Prep was again led by Miles Bridges who had his second double double of the tournament (18pts; 14rebs) and Curtis Jones (19pts).

Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought game. This will go down as one of the all-time greatest Chick-Fil-A Classic games.
