Tuesday night marks the first night of this year’s 15th edition of the Chick-Fil-A Classic held annually at Richland Northeast High School. In Game 1 of the National Bracket beginning at 7:00 pm, perennial power Keenan High School takes on the defending State 3A Champs from AC Flora High School. On paper, this may look like a big advantage for the 3A State Champs from AC Flora, but you can never count out the Raiders from Keenan. Zach Norris’ squad has gotten off to a great start this season knocking off arch rival Lower Richland twice and the #2 team in 5A, Dutch Fork, at the Bojangles Bash. The Raiders are led by uncommitted Senior, Tariq Simmons, who has made the transition to PG this season and is playing at a high level leading the Raiders to a 6-0 record. The Falcons feature several D1 prospects in Senior James Reese (Buffalo Signee), 6-10 Sr Deshawn Thomas, and Super Sophomore (top 20 C/O 2019) Christian Brown. The Falcons finished off a tough stretch of losses to Cardinal Newman, Huntington Prep, and Sumter with a blowout win over Brookland-Cayce to regain their confidence coming in to this match-up with rival Keenan. This should be an exciting game against two local rivals that really get after it when they go up against each other.

Game 2 of the National Bracket pits Gray Collegiate of West Columbia, SC  versus Spartanburg Day out of Spartanburg, SC. The War Eagles of Gray Collegiate feature UNC Signee, Jalek Felton, who has gotten off to a great start this season leading the War Eagles. He is accompanied by Super Top 25 Sophomore, Juwan Gary, who has potential to be an elite high major prospect, and Kahlil Robinson who also plays at a high level for the War Eagles. The Griffins of Spartanburg Day are led by one of the hottest prospects in the country in Zion Williamson. Williamson is ranked as one of the top Junior prospects in the country and is playing as advertised averaging 36 points per game and 13 rebounds per game to lead the Griffins. This will be a high level match-up in which Williamson will have to play big on the big stage and get some help from the likes of Chandler Lindsay and Kyle Tracy if they are going to take down the War Eagles. This will be the highlight game of the night and you wont want to miss it.
