The last game of Day 2 featured the Lafayette Christian Knights who jumped off to a quick start over the Westlake Lions. The Knights were without LSU signee Galen Alexander who was injured prior to this tournament but that did not stop them as they led by as many as 13 points in the first half. Greg Williams and Caleb Starks would lead the Knights in the first half with sharp shooting and crafty drives to the basket to give them a 33-24 lead. The second half started with Chuma Okeke awakening with several baskets along with a three point basket by guard James Lewis to trim the lead to 39-41 with 9:40 to play. Westlake also started to pound the ball inside against the smaller Knights feeding Okeke and 6’9 Kelvin Simeon. With 7 minutes to go and clinging to a 5 point lead the Knights chose to take the air out of the ball and run some clock. Westlake would create a turnover and cut the lead to two points but the Knights of Lafayette Christian would quickly counter and get the lead back to 7 points after baskets by Starks and Williams. Westlake would then make another charge late in the game and pulled even 53-53 until Terrence Jones of Lafayette scored a short jumper in the lane to give the Knights the lead. Westlake then pushed the ball hard up the floor and had a chance to tie but was not able to convert the layup as time expired. Williams and Starks led the Knights in the upset win with 18 and 13 points consecutively.

Lafaytette will now face John Carroll Thursday at 3:50 in the main gym.
