After a slow first couple of minutes in this first American semi-final, John Carroll began to make plays to get up by as many as six points in the first half. Montez Mathis of John Carroll got things going for his team with several baskets off stick backs and drives to the basket to finish the half with 12 points. For the Knights, it was an unexpected big half for Pierre Dupree, while Caleb Starks and Greg Williams struggled to get going. The Knights found themselves behind at the half 28-22. The Patriots of John Carroll came out quick at the start of the half going on an 11-0 run as Immanuel Quickley got his offense going with a three and several assists to help the Patriots jump to a 43-26 lead with 11:17 to go. The Patriots would go on to increase their lead the next three minutes with several nice baskets and assists by Montez Mathis and Cameron Byers to give the Patriots a 49-28 lead with 8:29 to go. From that point the Patriots just proved to be too much on both ends of the floor for the Knights of Lafayette. Montez Mathis finished with a game high 22 points and 13 rebounds while Immanuel Quickley finished with 7 points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds.
The Knights will face the winner of Blythewood and Wheeler on Friday at 6:45pm in the main gym.
