This 3rd place game of the American Bracket got off to a fast and furious start as both teams were eager to avenge tough losses in the semi-finals. Leaky Black and Wendell Moore led the Chargers of Cox Mill with 13 and 11 points respectively in the first half, while Aaron Nesmith continued his hot shooting leading the Cyclones with 17 points. The Chargers led at the half 34-29.

The Chargers would extend their lead up to as much as 14 points with 9:10 left to play with a pair of 3’s from Cody Kline and several easy finishes by Wendell Moore. The Charger defense was stout all afternoon frustrating the Cyclones. Aaron Nesmith would turn that frustration into motivation knocking down three pointer after three pointer to help the Cyclones get within 6 points with 3:34 to go. With 1:45 to go Nesmith broke the CFA Classic record for threes in a game making his 9th of the game to cut the lead to 69-64. However, it would not be enough as the Chargers would pull away for a 77-66 victory and a third place victory in the American Bracket.

Nesmith finished with 37 points on 14-19FG’s for Porter Gaud and Wendell Moore finished with 27 points for the Chargers.
