502 Reads

The first half of this game was what everyone had hoped for in big plays, great shooting, and two teams giving everything they had to win a championship. For IMG, it was the hot three point shooting from Darius Days and strong physical play inside of Silvio de Sousa. Oak Hill had strong inside play as well with David McCormack and hot three point shooting from Keldon Johnson. The pace was fast and furious with both teams playing solid championship basketball. Oak Hill went into the half with a slim 40-37 lead after trailing by as much as 7 early on in the half.

Oak Hill would turn up the heat early in the 2nd half going on 9-2 run to go up 49-39 with 11:02 left in the half. However, Jahmius Ramsey, who was scoreless in the first half, went on a tear scoring 14 points in short amount of time to get the Ascenders back in the game. The Ascenders would take the lead on a Josh Green layup with 2:14 and the game would go back and forth down the stretch with each team swapping baskets. The Ascenders would get a steal late and Darius Days would be unable to convert a dunk with :43 seconds left that would have given the Ascenders the lead. Oak Hill would get the rebound and hold for one shot and that is when Will Richardson would drive into the paint and convert a jumper inside the lane with 7.8 seconds left. The Ascenders would get one last look at a three for the win but Noah Farrakahan’s three pointer from the corner would not fall and the Warriors would win their 4th Chick-Fil-A Classic Title.

Keldon Johnson would lead all scorers with 25 points would be named the MVP of the National Bracket.
