GCEAF stands for Greater Columbia Educational Advancement Foundation. GCEAF (pronounced gee-cef) was formed in 2003 as a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization with its primary mission being the providing of educational scholarships to deserving high school seniors who live within the Greater Columbia area.

GCEAF decided to use the vehicle of athletics to accomplish this mission, thus is their mantra of “Advancing Education through Athletics”. GCEAF’s major fundraising event is the nationally acclaimed Chick-fil-A Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament. Proceeds after expenses benefit the GCEAF and its efforts to raise money for educational scholarships. Since 2003 GCEAF has awarded over $175,000 in scholarships.

We invite you to join us in our efforts by becoming our partner. There are two ways to support our organization. One is by making a tax deductible contribution. If you do so, we will send you a letter acknowledging your contribution. The second way you can support us is by your business or organization becoming an advertising sponsor of the Chick-fil-A Classic Basketball Tournament. For more details on how you can support us, contact us at gfulmer@richland2.org.

Students attending a high school in the Greater Columbia area that are interested in being considered for the GCEAF Scholarships should contact their school guidance counselor. The amount of each scholarship is $1,000. Letters will be sent in early March to these offices notifying them of the scholarships and procedures. The selections are made by the individual school’s Scholarship Committee.

  • A minimum 3.0 overall grade point average
  • At least 95% attendance in school
  • Exhibits outstanding character and citizenship
  • Involvement in interscholastic athletics

All scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or university.
