Game 16 Summary

By Gerald Davis

COLUMBIA _ Kenny Reed, who didn’t start the game and was scoreless in the first half, had six points in overtime to help Keenan to a 76-68 win against Ridge View Monday at Richland Northeast.

It was a fitting end of the tournament for Reed and Keenan. The Raiders lost their first two games of the tourney and was struggling on both ends of the court.

But defense helps create shots and Keenan (5-5) did that well in the second half against the Blazers.

“They buckled up and started playing defense in the second half,” said Keenan coach Zach Norris, whose team trailed by as much as 12 in the game and didn’t take a lead until late in the second half. “Kenny Reed came off the bench and played the kind of game we knew he was capable of playing. The potential is there but we had been getting on him about defense.”

Dennis Rowe led all scorers with 27 points and Eric Washington added 18 for Keenan.

Ridge View was led by Jamar Gillespie, who had 14 points. Cameron Lee added 13 as the Blazers fell to 3-8.
