COLUMBIA _ Michael Murray, James McAdoo and Mario Nixon each scored 14 points to lead Norfolk Christian to a 52-41 win over Trinity Chirstian in final-day action of the Chick-fil-A Classic at Richland Northeast Tuesday.

Murray, a sophomore guard, really came up huge for in the second half, when McAdoo, a junior who has committed to North Carolina, left the game injured.

McAdoo, who missed about eight weeks with a shoulder injury, fell to the floor after reaching for a rebound against two Trinity defenders. Norfolk, which improved to 4-2, led 35-23 at that point. But with McAdoo on the bench, Murray and the Ambassadors kept rolling.

“Obviously when he (McAdoo) went down we all held our breath,” said Norfolk coach Michael Allen. “He had worked so hard in rehab and we didn’t even expect him for this tournament. But went he went down, I called timeout and we all said a little prayer.”

Murray kept Norfolk’s head in the game.

“We’ve been working with him.” Allen said. “He’s been pressing too much, but he stepped up and played today.”

Trinity’s Damontre Harris, a 6-9 forward who is headed to South Carolina, finished with eight points, six rebounds and five blocks. Trinity fell to 8-3.
