Salesian College Prep traveled the farthest of any team in the Chick-fil-A Classic but the long trip was worth it.

The Pride defeated Dorman 45-39, to win the American Division title at the 17th-annual tournament. Salesian, located in Northern California, held all three of its opponents 40 points or under in winning the championship.

Salesian is just the second team from California to win the event. St. John Bosco won it 2012.

Tournament MVP Shane Bell scored 11 points and Jaden McClanahan had 10. Jovon McClanahan had seven and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:40 left.

Dorman guard and tournament Most Oustanding Player Myles Tate led the Cavaliers with 14 points. All-tournament selection PJ Hall had 11.

Dorman was trying to become the sixth South Carolina team to win the tournament.
