John Marshall began its Chick-fil-A Classic title defense with a 68-59 win over Lancaster on Thursday.

Aiden Argabright scored a game-high 24 points and Redd Thompson added 19 for the Justices. The two guards each hit four 3-pointers in the game. Latrell Almond, one of the top prospects in the Class of 2026, added 12 points and 14 rebounds. 

JM used a 7-0 run in the third quarter to open up a 30-21 lead. 

The Justices, winners of last year’s American Bracket, will face Ridge View on Friday in the semifinals. Lancaster gets host River Bluff in a consolation game at 10:50 a.m.

John Marshall is 6-1 all-time in CFA games and came into the tournament ranked No. 21 in latest ESPN’s boys high school basketball Top 25 rankings.

Malik Tinsley led Lancaster with 14 points and Jordan Watford had 13. 

It is the Bruins’ first appearance in the Classic since 2005.
